65 years after independence, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has celebrated the strength in the country’s unity, cultural diversity and resilience of the citizenry.
While saluting heroes of the Nigerian independence efforts, Rep. Benson, who is also the Chairman, House of Representatives’ Committee on Defence, said President Bola Tinubu through his Renewed Hope Agenda is deliberately transforming the country.
The three – term lawmaker noted all these in a statement commemorating the 65th Independence Day anniversary of Nigeria on Wednesday.

“Today, we celebrate our great nation’s resilience, diversity and unbroken spirit over the past 65 years. As we mark this milestone, I join all Nigerians in saluting the sacrifices of our heroes past and the commitment of citizens who continue to keep the Nigerian dream alive.
“I extend my warm felicitations to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; the National Assembly; the Judiciary; the Armed Forces, and indeed all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora who continue to carry the torch of our nation with resilience and hope.
“Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Nigeria is undergoing bold reforms to stabilise the economy and lay the foundation for lasting prosperity.

“Through the Renewed Hope Agenda, we see deliberate efforts to boost food security, expand energy, empower youths and women, strengthen social welfare and enhance national security. These are tough but necessary steps towards a Nigeria where peace, opportunity and prosperity are guaranteed for all.”
The lawmaker who has been representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency since 2015, also used the occasion of the independence day celebration to remind constituents in Ikorodu that jn partnership with them, the Constituency has been making steady and sustained progress.
He pledged to continue to give them quality representation.

“For me, this day is also a reminder of my duty to the good people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency. Together, we have made notable strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare and youth empowerment – and by God’s grace, we will achieve even more in the years ahead.
“My pledge remains to continue giving my best in service, ensuring that Ikorodu stands tall in the Nigerian project.
“At this defining moment, let us set aside ethnic and religious divides and strengthen the bonds that unite us. The progress of Nigeria depends on our unity, patriotism and collective resolve to build a nation where peace and opportunity thrive.
“Nigeria’s best days are still before us. Happy Independence Day!”
